Dryer Vent Cleaning

Dryer Vent Cleaning in Scottsdale & the Phoenix East Valley

We clean dryer vents, and we repair dryers. That combination matters more than it sounds, and it is the reason we built this page.

Why calling the wrong company costs you twice

Here is what happens constantly. Someone notices their clothes take two cycles to dry, decides the vent must be clogged, and calls a vent cleaning company. The vent gets cleaned. The dryer still does not dry, because the real problem was a failed heating element or a cracked blower wheel. Now they call a repair tech and pay a second time.

It runs the other direction just as often. Someone calls a repair company for a dryer that will not dry. The tech replaces a thermal fuse, collects payment, and leaves. Six weeks later the fuse blows again, because the vent was packed the whole time and nobody cleared it. The part was never the cause.

Both of those customers paid twice for one problem. Not because anyone cheated them — because a vent cleaner cannot diagnose a dryer and a lot of repair techs will not touch the vent.

We do both on the same visit. One diagnosis, one company, one bill. If it is the vent, we clean it. If it is the dryer, we fix it. If it is both, which it often is, we handle both while we are there.

Signs your vent needs cleaning

  • Clothes need more than one cycle, especially towels and jeans
  • The dryer or the laundry room is hot to the touch after a cycle
  • A burning or musty smell while running
  • The vent hood flapper outside barely moves, or does not open at all
  • Lint collecting around the door seal or behind the machine
  • An LG showing d80, d90 or d95 — those codes are the dryer reporting a restricted vent, not a fault

Why vents clog faster here

Two things work against Valley homes. Dust is the obvious one — open desert lots and construction mean more of it in the air and more of it settling in the run. The bigger factor is vent length. A lot of newer two-story homes in Gilbert, Mesa and North Scottsdale put the laundry room upstairs, which means the vent travels up through the attic and out the roof. Those runs are long, they bend several times, and lint packs into every elbow.

A restricted vent is not just a drying problem. It is what kills heating elements, thermal fuses and blower wheels — the parts we get called out to replace. Clearing the vent is how you stop replacing them.

What we do

We clear the full run from the dryer to the exterior hood, not just the section you can reach from behind the machine. We check the hood and flapper outside, since a stuck flapper defeats a clean vent. We clean lint out of the dryer cabinet itself while we are in there. And we tell you what we found, including whether the run is longer than the manufacturer allows — because if it is, you will be calling someone about this again.

How often

Once a year for most households. More often if you have a long or roof-vented run, a large family, or pets that shed. If it has been more than two years, it is worth doing regardless of symptoms.

Frequently asked

Do I need my vent cleaned or my dryer repaired?

Often you cannot tell from the symptoms, and that is the whole problem. A dryer that will not dry looks identical whether the cause is a clogged vent or a failed heating element. We diagnose both on the same visit so you are not paying two companies to find one answer.

How much does dryer vent cleaning cost?

An $89 service call covers coming out and assessing the vent and the dryer. You get a firm price before any work starts. If the dryer also needs a repair we quote that at the same time, so there is no second trip and no second service call.

Do you clean the whole vent run?

Yes, from the dryer through to the exterior hood, including the flapper. A partial clean of the section behind the machine leaves the packed elbows in place, which is where the restriction usually is.
