GE Dryer Repair

GE Dryer Repair in Scottsdale & the Phoenix East Valley

We repair GE dryers throughout Scottsdale, the East Valley and North Phoenix — electric and gas.

The three ways a dryer fails

Almost every call we take falls into one of three buckets. The brand changes which part is likeliest, not the shape of the problem.

It runs but doesn’t heat

The usual suspects are the heating element, the thermostat, the thermistor, the control board, a clogged vent, or an electrical supply issue. In this climate the vent is worth checking first — restricted airflow is what kills the electrical parts that finally give out, so replacing a fuse without clearing the run just buys you a second service call.

It’s making noise

Rollers, pulley bearings, a cracked drum, a blower wheel that is stuck or failing, or the motor itself. Where the noise comes from and what it sounds like narrows it down fast — a rhythmic squeal is usually a bearing, a rumble is usually rollers, and a scraping sound often means something has worked its way into the blower.

It won’t start at all

Door switch, thermal fuse, control board, timer, belt, or idler pulley. This one surprises people, because a dryer that looks completely dead is often the cheapest repair on the list — a door switch is a small part.

What is particular to GE

GE drums ride on a rear bearing that wears and starts to grind. It is a distinctive sound — deeper and more constant than the rumble you get from worn rollers, and it comes from the back of the machine rather than underneath.

The other GE quirk worth knowing: if the dryer runs only while you hold the start button in, that is the start switch, not the motor. It is an inexpensive part and a quick repair, but it reliably convinces people the machine is finished.

On gas models, no heat usually comes back to the valve coils. They are cheap enough that we replace the set rather than test one and return for the other.
